The controversy on the centerpiece of the Marble table is something that I have been pursuing with a vengeance for almost a year now. Until recently, I had never in person seen one, I had only "heard about them" saw some screen shots and listened to people on message boards talk about its existence.
One Saturday afternoon in October I had about an hour of free time so I decided to walk around and see if I could find any houses open to the public with new rares. (You will find -A LOT- of rares that you had no idea existed, that you will never find on a web site or message boards).
I was walking around, checking out player run establishments, and basically any house that was open or "on display". It never ceases to amaze me the things that people can make from in game Items. Hot tubs, and fish tanks are among some of the more popular cool things to make in your house, but their are also nurseries, guillotines, santas, and all kinds of things that creative people make with the items found in game.
Well, I came across a tower that had some cool stuff in it, and on one of the upper floors low and behold I found my holy grail! (well one of them lol *grins*) I found a marble table with a centerpiece! Actually there were 10 Marble tables (End pieces and 4 Center Pieces!... No wait, there was another End piece out in another room making it 11 end pieces, and 4 centers... Hmmmm

On the top floor their were a lot of Unusually nice rares and a Stone Table! Hey I didn't know a Stone table Existed?....
Some Follow up. I took these screen shots towerd the end of 2000, back then stone tables were only a distent wish. Now november of 2001 a miner with the stone mining skill, and a carpenter with masonry can build a very simaler table.
If its not Obvious by now, perhaps the placement of the tower will shed some light on this amazing "rares collection"

Anyone want to know where this is located and on what shard? lol I'm not saying, although it does irk me a tad when I see what probably is exploiting going on. I have no idea or way of knowing the story behind the tower or the items in the tower. Its entirely possible that all the items are legitimate and just a spectacular rares collection. The placement of the tower tends to shoot holes in the theory that its legit, lol but I don't know, so maybe it is :)
If anyone happens to know of this tower and that the items are Legit inside please e-mail me so I can take the words "sploit monkey" out of the title. But until then, like I said in the Guest book, the secret is safe with me.
Jan 2002 a little follow up :) I have recieved several e-mails from friends and clients, in refrence to this tower. I have heard slightly diffrent versions of the same story. Basicly it was created as an award to a group of players. Thats not the kind of thing UO does every day, in fact that is very rare. However its very cool to know that once in a blue moon they do something like that.
