Server Up Rares

There are an handful of rares that spawn daily, the competition is Fierce for these, but the rewards are soo worth it. Most of these will sell for around 100k some higher as opposed to the occasional rares, which will sell for 500k to a cool Million, but those only spawn a few times a year. :)

However as with all rares Who is buying and Who is selling plays a huge part of it, I have seen the Large rocks go for 750k twice in same week on the same shard.

Basket:
These are Fruit Baskets with the Fruit eaten out of them. (There is Currently no other way to make Baskets) They spawn all over the place, but the means of getting them is the same.

It's called the "Stacking method". Take a bunch of blank runes, or nightshade (basically anything will work) I use nightshade because you can "grab" one end of it without the cursor blocking where you need to put it, but other people swear by Runes, or Blood moss. Anything will work. You make a stack of your items under or at the base of the basket your going for, build it up until your stack "pushes through" the basket, then remove the Item, eat the fruit out of the basket and its yours! :) (Providing some lamer doesn't grab it from you at the last second as happens a little to much with baskets).

The single best way to figure out the stacking trick is to be at any of these locations at server up and watch someone do it. Each location is a little different too, but after you get the hang of it and lean the ins and outs of each location you will be getting baskets in no time! :) (There is usually Much less competition for them than the other server up rares).

*Note not all shards have the Bucs den basket available, as you can see from the Napa Valley Pic above (I'm in red) the Basket is right there, and permanently locked down, stacking wont help. However the pic below is one of Bucs den on Baja (I'm in Blue and white on the Baja pic) The basket is not locked down and can be taken at sever up. Most shards are like Baja.

This is in the ground floor of the main farmhouse in the hedge maze, some shards you can just walk right into the farmhouse but on others it's blocked off with Obstacles, and fences. After doing a little experimenting I have found that you can teleport (3rd level spell) into the barnyard next to the farmhouse and use the wooden double doors to get inside the house. Also if there is a Iron gate on your shard blocking the front door there is a way to bring the gate down, I started clicking on everything and trying things out, and after a while It reluctantly "opened for me" Possibly it comes down every 30 minutes or something like that.

This one is in this room on this dining table, the room is in the cluster of buildings in the middle of the city of Magencia.

I get the most questions about these TWO baskets. Most rares hunters when talking about them refer to them as the tailor shop baskets, which is about as accurate as possable but confuses a lot of people. They don't actually spawn inside the tailor shop, they spawn on the Patio BUT you have to walk through the tailor shop to access the patio. (There are a lot of patios in Nujelm, but only 1 Tailor shop). I have drawn some red arrows on the Minimap in the picture..X marks the spot :)

Also on most shards Two Baskets spawn, not 1, they spawn side by side on the table in the Picture.

This one is located on the North East prong of Nujelm, it spawns at server up on that table. As a side note, this is a very quiet area most of the time except at server up, the candlelight is awesome... So if your Loved one also Plays Ultima... *Hint hint* good place for a Date :)

Barrel Closed (Lid):
Spawns when the server first comes up in a room north of the Bone Magi room in Deceit.

Candle Tall:
Server up, be in covetous behind the Lich room. On the table with candles already there is where two new ones will Pop up. (Hint, if you can Hide, do so before you log out the night before, people sometimes drag a motley crew of monsters into that room, and you don't want your character to have to time out while being exposed!)

That's me getting to know the locals, as you can see this rare is more for combat characters with close to 100 HP

Fruit baskets:
This Spawns on the table where I'm standing. It is an in demand Item; "Fruit Basket" is Synonymous with "Rares". They spawn at server up in several places but in Most you have to eat the fruit out of the basket in order to get them. There is only one place that I know of to get an actual fruit Basket, and that is this Farmhouse in Yew.

Make sure you Log out there the night before and are there right at server up ready to grab that Basket off the table. Plan on their being competitors :)

I have seen the suggested retail of this item at $30,000 In a word NOPE! That estimate was accurate back when 30k was a lot of money, and only a few people had houses. With the opening of trammel, and the explosion of demand on the rares market the price has since changed. I watched a rares hunter laugh off an offer of 70k and settle at 90k and 1k of each reagent (about another 35k worth of regs, plus the time it takes to go around Buying 1k of each reg)

Full Jars:
This can only be found in the bakery on the island of Occlo (Haven in Trammel) I don't believe they spawn at all on the trammel side as the whole Island had some serious recoding done to make it into "haven".

On the felucca side they still spawn every day at server up. However there are still catches, they spawn behind an Oven and cant be seen unless using an Illegal 3rd party Program (UO Extreme) which I understand no longer functions with UO.

People are still getting the Jars though, supposedly if you keep moving the oven back and fourth over and over again, you can get the graphic to disappear long enough to snatch the Jars.

The Price varies greatly but I would try and keep it in the Neighborhood of $60,000 Again this depends on who is buying them, what shard, how many are on the market etc.

Pool of Blood:

This rare has been one of my Holy Grails for almost two years. Basically it spawns Daily as loot in randomly spawning evil mage tower at Server up. The tower is gone without a trace in 10 minutes.

I used to think it was a weekly spawn, but have since learned it is in fact daily. Because of the many spawn location possibilities I'm sure its not found every day, and because the odds of actually keeping the pool of blood as loot is slim, and almost None if you haven't read this article no where near as many of them as other daily rares (fruit basket, rocks etc) survive long enough to enter circulation.

For people lucky enough to find the tower, grab the pool of blood and make it out alive they are lucky. Unfortunately most of them will not get much use out of their rare, as it will vanish right on schedule when the tower does.

Since I published the guide in September I cant say how many people have desperately ICQed me to see if their was a way to get their Rare back. Their isn't, once its gone its gone, however there Is a way that is somewhat reliable to keep if from disappearing in the first place.

When you find the blood pool Immediately recall to an INN and Log out with the pool in your backpack. DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR BANK BOX AND LOG, also DO NOT WAIT AROUND TO LOG seconds count.

Once logged stay logged out until the shard has a save, that can be as little as 2 hours, to be on the safe side you might just play another character until the next day.

If the shard saves while it's in your pack you have a good chance of keeping it. Its still not 100% but you have no almost no chance of keeping it if you bank it then log, or don't log out at all.

If its still there when you log back in a few hours (or a day later) its yours :) you can treat it as any normal item now, bank it, put it in your house, whatever. Just remember when you get it you only have minutes to get to an INN and Log, also make sure you Log at an Inn or your house, you have to "insta log" you cant wait for your character to time out, if you do that the odds are good that the tower will vanish (along with your pool of blood) while your character is hanging out.

The location of this spawn is anywhere there is room for a tower to spawn. Since its part of the game it does not play by the same rules that a tower placed by a player does. It can basically spawn over anything but a sever cliff, or trees, or other fixed obstacles (signs, houses etc)

When trammel first came out everyone seemed to be seeing the Tower in the woods north east of Britain, but that faded away after a while, what I believe happened was when housing was made available in Trammel all the spots near the east Britain woods that a tower could spawn were occupied by housing.

It still spawns, but in a random place, basically anywhere there is room.

Most confirmed sightings are in the open stretches of land below wrong dungeon. I would look here first at server up, but it does not always spawn here, People have reported seeing it in the lost lands (t2a) both on the grassy plains and in the frozen northern wastes.

It sometimes spawns in front of Wrong, but people report seeing it all over the map, so it appears to be random, if its not random and there are fixed locations that it spawns, then there are quite a number of fixed locations.

This is a good rare to go after, a friend of mine (and rares guide client) was lucky enough to find the tower TWICE! on Siege in the first week he was playing on Siege, he sold both the pools of blood and was an instant rich man.

Rock (A rock):

One a day right at server up in T2a J UOA: x5513, y3121 Sextant 0o 47'S x 290 44'W (East of Terrathan Keep). BE CAREFUL OF AVENGERS! Here is a hint.. They hit you and this giant chunk disappears from your health bar, and when that chunk doesn't stop falling off your health bar, its because they Deadly Poisoned you. So if you're trying to be there for this rare, be careful and don't have anything of serious value on you (Like other rares!).

Rocks Large:

Bucs Den UOAM x2686 y 2059. Sextant 38o13s 95050e. Note. On at least one shard some GM or programmer got their panties in a bunch and blocked the spawn on the Felucca side. I have an idea who it was too. I'll be sure and give them a wedgie at the next UO player/staff luncheons!

There is no trick to this one (or with most of the daily spawns) unless otherwise noted you can just walk right up and grab them.

In the past Lake superior was the Blocked shard but that appears to have been fixed. At the moment however some bean counter at OSI has blocked the Large Rock on Catskills.
